Last night I watched Leonard Cohen : I'm Your Man and Antony's performance just stood out as so haunting and amazing at the same time. I am always amazed at the amount of music out there that I've never heard that is just so amazing.

If you need your iPhone to communicate your drink order I think it's time to do some serious evaluation of your own true needs.

Kinda Sorta

i just typed the word sorta-invisible in an email (yes it was very informal) and spellcheck says it's OK though the dictionary doesn't contain that as a real word or "sorta-" as a prefix.
Though dictionary.com has sorta listed as an actual word and not labeled as slang or a colloquialism.

Wary, Weary, Leery or Leary?

Dan or I were discussing these words this weekend and weren't clear on the distinctions. So I figured I'd post this as a public service in case others were unclear as well. I think a lot of times common usage distorts my hunches on correct usage.

That Accent Meme

I've lived in NJ all my life, ditto for my parents and grandparents and most of my coworkers.
Yet, here are the results… )
Though I suppose being so close to PA has it's effects and South Jerseyeans pretty much speak Philadelphian. Though when I say coffee it's like a crow immitation.

On a related note, I was thinking this morning about localized words and foods. Things that you might take for granted and might be taken by surprise for not being otherstood when away from home.
I am thinking of putting together a poll of some local examples—we'll see.

External Hard Drive Recommendation?

Anyone have any good suggestions for a 120GB+, Firewire & USB, bus powered external hard drive?
I have this LaCie d2 250GB drive and it works well, though between the extra power cord and it's not exactly sleek in proportions. I'd like something that I don't need an extra plug (well at least not 100% of the time).
Oh yeah I'll be using it with my 15" G4 Powerbook primarily, so enough power might be a concern with some drives.

Isn't "slider" used to refer to White Castle's burgers? or is it a style all its own?
These actually might be good as those King's Hawaiian rolls are quite yummy and to my delight now come in whole wheat. Yeah White Castle is kinda gross, but the same concept with good ingredients… Hmmm, perhaps I have a good party food idea in the works here…

Does anyone know anything about creating dynamic/calculating forms in Adobe Acrobat? I have to create this invoicing form and I've gotten everything set up and calculating perfectly except… I have a bunch of line items and if there's nothing filled in there is a row of zeroes down the right column instead of them just being blank.
I've been searching the net for a solution and it seems to be a pretty common issue, but no definite solutions. From what I can gather it is easier to have the figure change to white when 0.00 rather than truly hiding it, but I have no idea where to start as far as something like that.
So if anyone has any ideas, tuturial sites on how to occomplish this, it'd be much appreciated. I am being hounded for this by Excel-maniacs, so they aren't not being too understanding as why this isn't such a simple thing to accomplish.

It was a very warm, but wonderful day Saturday. We didn't spend much time at the gardens due to the heat, but the ride was pleasant.
Sunday was the Orchid Fest at Parkside Orchid Nursery and there was so many amazing plants there as well. I got one plant with many forming spikes on it for an incredible deal and Dan bought me type of Phalenopsis hybrid which is this unusual purple/maroon hue.
It was such a nice weekend relaxing and doing things I enjoy; unfortunately it feels like an extra drag being back at work this morning.

St. Dunstan's Day

Traditional weather lore has it that St. Dunstan was a great brewer who sold himself to the devil on the condition that the devil would blight the apple trees to stop the production of cider, Dunstan's rival drink. This is said to be the cause of the wintry blast that usually comes about this time.

I happened to hear this this morning and I thought it was Robbie Williams though it was a 70's station. I know this is nothing exciting, but for some reason I'm always amused when I first hear or make the connection with the original song a rift was borrowed.

So Saturday I'm planning on going to the Spring Flower Fair at Rutgers, hopefully the rain they're forecasting holds off. We really do need the rain, especially for this time of year. I'd bought a bunch of cool plants last year and they've supposedly expanded the selection even more for this year. It's something I'd definitely recommended attending if you're in the area, though I don't think most of you on my friends list are local enough.
They have a nice area planted with trees, specifically a lot of hollies as they've developed several varieties.

I've been listening to this new song called Titre Indisponible on a French radio station online. They sound so good but I can't find any of their albums anywhere!
